After recruit training in San Diego, CA,
and EM "A" school at Iowa State College, he was ordered to Submarine School in September, 1943.

After graduation from Submarine School, his duty stations were:

(1) 1944, SubDiv 231 aboard Proteus at Midway Island as part of the relief crew

(2) 1945-46, USS Sea Owl SS405

(3)1947, Inactive--Attended high school

(4) 1948-54, USS Amberjack, Key West Florida - Advanced to EMC

(5) 1955, USS Balao, Key West, Florida

(6) 1955-56, Officer in Charge, Recruiting Station, Panama City, Florida - Advanced to W-1

(7) 1956-57, Electronics Officers School, Great Lakes, Il - Advanced to Ens

(8) 1957-59, USS William M Wood - Electronics Material Officer

(9) 1959-60, DesRon 26 - Staff Material Officer

(10) 1960-63, Lake Mead Base, Las Vegas, Nev. - Weapons Officer

(11) 1963-65, USS Saratoga - Nuc Wpn Officer

(12) 1965-67, Operations Control Center, CINCLANT - Material Officer

(19) 1977-89, worked for State of Florida as a Program Administrator inTallahassee.

(20) 1989, retired from the State of Florida.

(21) 1993, had a major heart operation and by-pass surgery.

(22) 2002, has been married to the former Mary Belk of Pelham, Ga, for 54 years.
They have three children and one grandson (who went bad and joined the AF and is now a Major).
Donald is a member of the American Legion, DAV, and a life member of Sub Vet WWII.
