I don't know who is coming onboard, but
I hope he has a mail bag with him. Also good picture of Sea Owl before conversion. Note that the text in the picture mentions a snorkel -- something that Sea Owl doesn't have yet.
The above note was sent to the crew of the USS Sea Owl from 6 airmen
that were rescued from the Pacific on
July 2, 1945.
They were:
R.A. Cross, Ensign USNR
D.L. Cahill, Ensign USNR
H.E. Spivey AOM1c
J.N. Clark AMM2c
Lawrence.S. Sullivan ARM2c
E.H. Bruch AOM2c
Picture of the rescued airman.
This picture was provided by shipmate Ralph Lucas TM 44-46
H. E. Spivey is the one with his right arm in a sling. They are all listed in the Third War Patrol Report and Spivey is mentioned as having a broken right arm. Since the two on the left in front are not dressed as enlisted men, I suppose they could be the two Ensigns.
Lawrence Sullivan is standing on the right side, as you view this picture. We know this because of this e-mail:

MY NAME IS CARL WAITE. IN THE PICTURE OF THE RESCUED CREWMEN FROM THE VPB-18, THE SAILOR STANDING ON THE RIGHT IS LAWRENCE S. SULLIVAN, MY WIFE'S UNCLE. HE PASSED AWAY 11/19/03 ON STATEN ISLAND, NY. HE WAS 81 YEARS OLD, A GOOD SAILOR, SON, BROTHER AND UNCLE.

In reading this message, you will see that there is mention of a submarine sinking a Japanese submarine that was carrying
in supplies for enemy soldiers on Wake Island.

That submarine was none other than the USS Sea Owl. This is reported by Captain Carter Bennett in his report dated 18th April 1945.
    Nice job guys!!!!!!!

The "me" in this picture is Ralph Lucas TM 44-46. It is Ralph that we owe a great deal of appreciation to for making these pictures available to us.

I would be remiss if I forgot to mention our shipmate Mike Maloon IC 66-69 for making these images available to me. Also a special thanks goes out to Air Force Master Sgt. John Bodine for helping Mike get these images scanned and sent to me. From what Mike tells me, Master Sgt. Bodine is very interested in the men and the history of our submarine service. Thanks to both Mike & John for giving us these memories.!!!!
